Need to lower your cholesterol? Now you can with a natural folk remedy.

Researchers recently studied the effects of a common household ingredient on cholesterol levels. And it’s so common you probably have a bottle of it in your pantry right now.

Iranian researchers tested this liquid on rats with normal and diabetic lipid levels. They fed both groups of rats a diet that included this liquid.  After just four weeks, both groups of rats were healthier.

The rats with normal lipid levels showed a reduction in LDL cholesterol. That’s “bad” cholesterol. And as LDL levels decreased, HDL – good cholesterol – levels increased.

In the diabetic rats, researchers found lower fat levels in the blood. That leads to a decreased risk of heart disease. This liquid also increased HDL cholesterol levels in the diabetic rats.

It certainly sounds promising.  Especially when you consider the long list of other benefits this liquid offers.

What helped these rats improve their total cholesterol?

Apple cider vinegar.

People use apple cider vinegar to treat a number of ailments. Everything from acne, allergies, sore throat, and even heartburn.

Turkish researchers also studied the effects of this folk remedy. This time, they gave the rats oral supplements. Once again triglyceride levels decreased. And the rats on a high-cholesterol diet also had a decrease in LDL levels.

Apple cider vinegar is simple, cost-effective, and safe. You can’t say the same about Lipitor.

Just a quick trip to your local grocer and one-to-two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar are all you need. If you don’t like the taste, dilute it with a little water. Or make a salad dressing from it.
